Bonnaroo Day Three
For me the highlights of Saturday were Belle and Sebastian and Atomic Bomb! Who is William Onyeabor?
The former band should need little introduction, B&S are and have been a fixture on the indie scene since the mid-90s. Over their 20+ years of touring they have refined the festival set to perfection. They always bring the perfect blend of fast and slow, old and new. They maintained their tradition of inviting the audience to dance on stage during "Boy with the Arab Strap" and Bonnaroo flooded the stage.
Immediately after that stunning performance, the super all-star collective Atomic Bomb! took the That Tent by storm. This group is based around interpreting the works of enigmatic Nigerian funk legend William Onyeabor. This incarnation featured Jamie Lidell, Luke Jenner and Money Mark among others. The band is directed by Sinkane, who proved himself a startlingly proficient band leader among his other talents.
Other than these acts, Son Little opened the New Music stage with an outstanding set. Phox "soft rocked" the Other Tent and the This Tent was first jammed by Woods and then Rocked by Bleachers.
Stay tuned for more updates.
