Brennan’s Annual Turtle Parade April 20

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Brennan’s annual Turtle Parade honors the family of turtles with “The Slowest Second Line on Earth” – a journey through the French Quarter.

Since 2014, Brennan’s restaurant in New Orleans has housed a family of TEN banana leaf, colored-green TURTLES who inhabit the fountain pool in the lush slate courtyard. The beloved mascots have been dubbed the Muthas and the Othas – each turtle is named after one of the Mother Sauces, predominantly featured on the Brennan’s menu.

Each turtle rides in their own custom festooned wagons, decorated by the Brennan’s staff and their families. The floats creatively portray the meaning behind its namesake mother sauce.

The parade starts at Bienville and Chartres streets and the finale ends at the entrance of Brennan’s, where they roll out the green carpet, guiding the welcomed guests who joined the parade and turtles into the courtyard.

Hors d’oeuvres and specialty priced “green” drinks complement the festivities. Purchase Brennan’s children’s book, “A Topsy Turvy History of New Orleans & Ten Tiny Turtles,” to learn more about the turtles.
