Bridal Shop Screening

Couture bridal boutique Le Jour will screen two of the most well-loved bride-related films of all time this Sunday for its first-ever Pajama Party, which also serves as the shop’s first fundraiser for local nonprofits.

Le Jour is truly the first of its kind in Acadiana. Owner Shayda Yazdi said the idea for the boutique came to life several years ago, as a way to bring the “brides-to-be of Acadiana a higher-end bridal experience.” Brands like Viktor & Rolf, Atelier Pronovias, Hayley Paige, and Sareh Nouri grace its walls, and the shop prides itself on its superb service in a relaxed atmosphere. For the visionary bride, Le Jour exclusively offers designer and New Orleans entrepreneur Pedram Pasha Taheri’s creations through Pedram Couture.

“We try to stick with more unique wedding gown designs that carry some elements of tradition with an edge of modernism for each individual bride,” said Yazdi. “We already know that Lafayette has some of the most gorgeous women in the world, with style to boot! What we needed was a bridal experience to match.”

It’s every girl’s dream. Couture means made-to-measure, and, Yazdi said, almost any gown hanging in the a boutique can be custom made to have a perfect look and fit. It’s only fitting that a place that makes daydreams come to life would give back to the community through film, and Sunday’s screenings will include “Bridesmaids” and “The Princess Bride.”

It was a tough choice to choose between all the great bridal flicks out there,” said Yazdi. “But one of our personal favorites is 'The Princess Bride' – it’s a hilarious classic that really touches on the meaning of a true timeless love. And you can’t have a girls night without inviting Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy! I mean, c’mon!”

“We have always been actively involved in local organizations and realized the impact of involvement our clients can have in helping our community,” said Yazdi. “The eagerness and excitement we see in our clients to do this prompted us to plan several fundraisers, which involve them not only having fun and creating memories, but also giving back to our community. The Pajama Party is one of our local fundraisers we are proudly arranging for the month of August!”

Attendees are encouraged to wear their comfortable pajama sets and bring a cozy blanket and pillow, just like at home. Unlike at home, each attendee will receive a party bag full of gifts and treats from places like Renewed Med Spa, Altered Salon and more. Party bags also include a ballot sheet of three local non-profits, and party-goers get to vote on the recipient of the proceeds. Le Jour donates to several organizations, such as Faith House, the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana, The Breast Institute and the Out Reach Center, and more.

Rien laisse que Des Miettes – Nothing Left But Crumbs will offer some sweet snacks and desserts, and Itz Pop-a-Liciouos will have its own popcorn bar. Tea sandwiches and snacks galore will be available, as will adult beverages, for those over 21.

“We really want to provide a relaxed, non-judgmental environment for the  girls and women of our community to come out and have a nice movie night,  filled with laughs, yummy treats, and maybe even maybe make a new friend at the end," said Yazdi. "In return, the proceeds from ticket purchases will go to a woman or child in need, right here in Acadiana."
