NEW ORLEANS (press release)— Broussard’s Restaurant & Courtyard is celebrating spring and the arrival of the Louisiana strawberry season with a special prix fixe dinner menu featuring strawberries in every dish. Chef Jimi Setchim has crafted specials for brunch and dinner. These dishes are also available on the a la carte menu.
“Nothing is sweeter and more enticing than the beginning of strawberry season in South Louisiana,” said Chef Jimi. “For our spring menu, I wanted to show off how versatile strawberries are. Whether fresh and ripe in a salad, used to offset the richness of a savory dish, or concentrating on their sweetness in a dessert, strawberries are showcased throughout our entire menu.”
Chef Jimi’s prix fixe dinner menu includes a choice of starters: Ponchatoula strawberry salad, spiced duck tart with housemade strawberry sriracha, or crispy fried Brussels sprouts with strawberry pepper jelly and brie fondue. The featured entrées are strawberry BBQ porchetta, pompano Pontchartrain with strawberry and tomato chow chow, and strawberry glazed duck breast. For dessert, Chef Jimi presents strawberry cream tart and strawberry & poppyseed chantilly cake. The price of the berry prix fixe dinner menu is $52 per person.
The prix fixe brunch menu starts with duck and alligator sausage gumbo or Caesar salad, entrées include strawberry praline pain perdu and Louisiana blue crab quiche. For dessert, Chef Jimi offers English toffee bread pudding. The price of the prix fixe brunch menu is $45 per person.
Several desserts are also centered around the Louisiana strawberry: the strawberry cream tart, strawberry and goat cheese hand pie, and the strawberry and poppyseed Chantilly cake.
