On October 23, The Eiffel Society served as a chic backdrop for the New Orleans Jazz Institute’s inaugural Bubble Q fundraiser and soirée. The evening, which was dedicated to music education, also focused on “haute barbecue,” with participating restaurants including Besh Steakhouse, Eiffel Society and Squeal. Each eatery contributed creative barbecue delicacies.
The event was hosted by Dr. Corey Hebert, chairman of the NOJI and Grammy-winner Irvin Mayfield, artistic director. These two, along with a board of notable community leaders – writers, editors, athletes, chefs and other activists – helped put together the party that would ultimately raise funds and awareness for the various programs of the NOJI.
Glazer’s Distributors of Louisiana provided a tasting of nine premium champagnes. Guests danced to musical performances by The Kid Chocolate quartet as well as Sasha Masakowski. Guests also bid on items in a silent auction that offered items from local hotels, businesses and restaurants.
The New Orleans Jazz Institute is a partnership between the University of New Orleans and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and it hosts a medley of jazz education programs, including “Saturday Music School,” which is a free, year-long music program for 45 students per semester.
