The Contemporary Arts Center held their annual SweetArts Bash on Saturday, January 16, with a theme of “POP goes the CAC!” Fitting, as bubbly and balloon sculptures collided for a memorable evening.
Committee chairs Lisa Brooking Davis, Fionuala McGlinchey-Monsted and Robyn Dunn Schwarz put together a lively gathering that commenced at a nearby home with Food Art goodies, drinks by Republic Beverage Co. and tunes by Khris Royal Trio. The honorees of the year were excellent representatives of the city’s well-rounded cultural art scene: 3 Ring Circus Arts Education Center; DramaRama; Emeril Lagasse Foundation; KID smart; New Orleans Ballet Association; New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation; and Sweet Home New Orleans.
Merrymakers made their way to the CAC where they were greeted by Inflatable Sculpture (for one night only) by artist Addi Somekh. Guests ate and drank like the kings and queens of arts with NOLA staples from Café Atchafalaya, Butcher, Commander’s Palace, K-Paul’s, Pascal’s Manale and Sucré among many other fine establishments. Bubbly bars poured champagne concoctions for toasting with gusto while the party soundtrack blasted until midnight thanks to The Yat Pack and Mod Dance Party DJs. Cheers to a new year, CAC!
