What is the Fitz Construction Story?
I started Fitz Construction in 2013 as a small-scale renovation company. I could see there was a need in the market for a smaller, high-quality contractor for smaller renovations. As our reputation built over the years, we grew substantially, taking on larger renovations, additions, and new construction. We also do smaller commercial work as well.
How did you get your start in this industry?
After Hurricane Katrina, I went to work as a carpenter on the cruise ship terminal and quickly got promoted. Soon I realized that this was the industry for me. I went back to school for my construction management degree and after working as a Superintendent, Project Manager, and Lead Estimator, I decided to go on my own in 2013.
What does Fitz Construction specialize in?
We do many complicated additions & renovations; from tearing roofs off single-story homes to adding a second floor. We have even raised a one-story house and added a new first floor. We also do work on historic New Orleans buildings as well. Fitz Construction’s niches are working on complicated additions and renovations while also building many custom new construction homes.
How does Fitz Construction differentiate itself in a competitive market?
We don’t do a lot of advertising and 80% of our business is referrals from prior clients. When we bid on a project, our projects are turnkey. We try to include everything in our bids so clients can walk into their completed homes smiling. Communication is key, especially in the pre-construction phase. We have teams of architects, engineers, and designers we work closely with as needed per project.
What would you like potential clients to know about you?
Honesty, what I pride myself and my company on is honesty. We are in construction, there are always roadblocks and speed bumps throughout the construction process. If there is an issue, we like to be upfront with the client and be clear about how we will fix it. I don’t believe in problems; I believe in solutions.
