Building a Grand Entrance

City Park celebrated its 30th anniversary of Lark in the Park with this year’s appropriately themed “Lark Makes a Grand Entrance” on Friday, March 2 at City Park. Lark 2012 chairs Gayle Benson, Margo DuBos, Juli Miller Hart and honorary chair Genevieve “Gen” Trimble supported a spectacular City Park celebration benefitting the Friends of City Park.

The evening began with a patron party that included a champagne reception, catering by chef Donald Link and music by The Peristyle Quartet.

The gala then followed at the Goldering/Woldenberg Great Lawn. Over 50 local restaurants provided food for the evening. The sounds of Leif Pedersen’s 1944 Big Band and Big Sam’s Funky Nation serenaded patrons. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on luxury items during a live auction.

This year’s proceeds went to the construction of a new entrance for the Botanical Gardens and Storyland. The Friends of City Park dedicate themselves to ensuring City Park is a “place of restoration, rest, renewal, reflection, meditation, natural beauty amusement and education for the public.”
