Burka-Wright

Catherine Aden Burka and Daniel Alan Wright met over 15 years ago in a small newsstand in Uptown New Orleans. Aden and Dan spent the summer eating Baskin Robbins, walking along the streetcar line and falling in love. Dan then moved to Idaho, Michigan and Washington, D.C., before finally coming back to New Orleans – while Aden went to college in Virginia, lived in Charlotte, N.C., and moved to Austin, Texas before returning back to New Orleans. One constant in each of Aden and Dan’s lives was each other.

In preparation for her move to New Orleans, Dan wrote Aden a letter every day for months, retelling her the story of their lives. In the final letter, which she read right before he proposed, Dan wrote: “Now is the best part of the whole story. Now is when we only have blank pages that we get to fill in together, as we build a life together. As great as the past 14 years have been, and as much as I have loved all the time we had together, I am much more excited about the next 14, and the 14 that come after that, and the 14 that come next …

“In other words …”

After the wedding, Aden and Dan went to Belize for a week. The two now reside in New Orleans where Aden is a social worker at Daughters of Charity while Dan is the Director of Finance and Operations at Crescent City Schools.
