NEW ORLEANS (press release) – New Orleans City Park is proud to announce the opening of the newest Café Du Monde in the Park’s Casino Building. They invite the public to join them for the grand opening and ribbon cutting.
Café Du Monde serves their beignets three to an order and café au lait among other treats including other coffee drinks like frozen mocha au lait, milk, and soft drinks. Café Du Monde will host birthday parties, small events and is available for catering.
Also inside the Casino Building, the City Park gift shop received a makeover and will sell souvenir items and healthy bird and turtle food for guests to feed to the animals in nearby Bayou Metairie. Newly restored public restrooms inside the Casino Building will be open during the hours of operation of Café Du Monde.
Since early 2019, the Park has been home to the Café Du Monde food truck next to the building while the building was under renovation. The interior of the Casino Building was completely refurbished including the studs being rebuilt and the exterior painted. The kitchen floor was removed and replaced along with the underground plumbing. City Park and Café Du Monde could tell, by the many happy faces covered in powdered sugar from the food truck, the people visiting City Park were happy and excited for the restaurant to eventually open.
“Café du Monde beignet restaurant will open its doors providing both locals and tourists alike a sugar experience that’s a true part of the New Orleans experience. We’re proud to be the home to the latest Café Du Monde,” says Bob Becker, New Orleans City Park CEO. “The Café Du Monde company, founded in 1862, is nearly as old as the Park. We’re thrilled to invite such an historic company to join the 169 year old City Park family.”
