Camellia Brand Invites the Public to Gather ‘Round at NOCHI

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Cooking a large batch of hearty red beans and rice is a long-standing tradition in New Orleans. Camellia Brand plans to uphold this tradition on Monday, Nov. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. by inviting the community to Gather ‘Round, as L.H. Hayward & Company, the 96-year-old purveyors of the beloved Camellia Brand red bean, serves complimentary bowls of hot red beans and rice to celebrate the season of giving. The event will take place along the sidewalk outside of the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI), at 725 Howard Ave.

This year’s event will feature a 120-foot-long community table. All are welcome to grab a spot, and it’s Camellia’s hope that the table will attract the community to gather around to share conversation over a New Orleans culinary staple. “We’re excited to engage with the community and partner with NOCHI for this event as we continue this tradition while creating new memories,” said fourth-generation Camellia Brand Owner and CEO Vince Hayward. “Together we’ll gather as one at a community table to share conversation and a hot bowl of Camellia red beans and rice.”
