Carnival never ends at ARC of Greater New Orleans

Margie Perez is the Recycling Coordinator for ARC of Greater New Orleans. Many people may be familiar with the Mardi Gras bead recycling program that ARC provides. Not only does ARC keep these beads out of landfills, but its recycling program  employs New Orleans’ citizens who are affected by mental retardation and related developmental disabilities. Once ARC collects the beads, ARC clients sort them and the organization sells them at a discount to appreciative carnival krewe members. For anyone who has ever wondered about the various types of Mardi Gras beads, Margie is the expert, and she shares some of her knowledge in this podcast.
