Nonprofit group Casa Argentina celebrated the 192nd anniversary of the signing of Argentina’s Declaration of Independence by throwing a lavish party for guests to dance the night away. The annual Gala Tango Night took place at the Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, July 19th. The president of the organization, Dr. Juan J. Gershanik, was on hand to welcome guests and ensure the night was a huge success. The sold-out event featured a silent auction, complete with unique art pieces among many other interesting items, plus a tango show featuring some of the world’s best tango dancers and a tango ensemble for the guests’ enjoyment. Under the artistic direction of Miriam Larici, the show was a smash hit, and special guest Seth Asarnow kept the crowd lively with his Tango Quartet. The fantastic evening also featured a great seated dinner. All proceeds from the event benefited the Spanish programs of the Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse of New Orleans. Casa Argentina serves to enrich the cultural diversity of New Orleans and raise funds for philanthropic causes.
