The 2nd Annual What’s Cookin’ with CASA fundraiser was held at Savvy Gourmet (4519 Magazine St.), Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007.
The event featured a patron party from 6:30-7:30 p.m., where renowned local chef Donald Link, owner of Herbsaint and Cochon restaurants, led a cooking demonstration. Sparkling wine was provided by GlazerÃs Companies of La.
The main event began at 7:30 p.m. and featured delectable appetizers from Savvy Gourmet, wine, and a martini and margarita bar furnished by Glazer’s.
The evening’s silent auction featured items from donors including Coleman E. Adler & Sons, the New Orleans Saints, the New Orleans Hornets, Lora Davenport, Perlis, Inc., and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
Event sponsors included Whitney National Bank, Postlethwaite & Netterville, Entergy, Glazer’s, Phelps Dunbar, Cochon, and Herbsaint Bar and Restaurant.
The event benefited Court Appointed Special Advocates New Orleans, an organization which provides support for children who are victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment, and who are entangled in the legal system. CASA volunteers are trained by CASA and appointed by judges to speak for the child’s interest in court.
