Something new is cooking up in the kitchen at Joel Catering and Special Events and the Magazine Street event space Il Mercato. Chef Bryan Clark has recently been named executive chef at the catering company and wedding and events space. The promotion includes overseeing all catering events for the company, which includes events held at Il Mercato.
“Bryan has been with our company since he was 19 years old,” said Sarah Hall, president, Joel Catering and Special Events. “We know his talent because we’ve seen it in action night after night, event after event for almost a decade. His culinary talent and creativity always delights our guests and his operational skills make him the best and only choice for executive chef.”
Clark has been with Joel Catering since 2010, joining the team directly out of culinary school. In his new role, the chef will manage a staff of 20 employees responsible for more than 600 events each year, while he develops creative and delicious menu items to offer their clients.
“As a teenager, I walked into the Joel kitchen excited to learn and to cook. I still feel the same way,” said Clark in a statement released by the company. “Part of our city’s draw is food and any New Orleans chef must constantly be learning, creating enticing menus and cooking great food. The appointment as executive chef is an honor and I’m looking forward to all that lies ahead.”
