Celebrate 11 Years of Art Box Project with Community Visions Unlimited

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Come celebrate 11 years of Art Box Project with Community Visions Unlimited (CVU). Preview and purchase miniature replicas of the utility boxes painted for the past year; plus meet some of the artists, have a bite to eat, enjoy libations, good music by the Spike Perkins Trio and help a good cause.

The Mini Boxes (over 30) are little treasures that are one of a kind as they are only done once and auctioned for the previous year.  They are 7”x7” and the tops open for a special storage space.  They make great gifts and are a wonderful art keepsake!

CVU is also featuring some works of artist Jack Kleinberg, who recently died.  Jack was a friend of CVU and they want people to know that his work is important to New Orleans neighborhoods.  Most of the works give a glimpse into many of the neighborhoods of New Orleans.  Jack attended the renowned Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles and graduated with a degree of Fine Arts.  Jack moved to New Orleans in the early 1990’s and painted for over 30 years before moving to Mississippi.  Jack’s work, powerfully evocative and rarely viewed by the public, covers a broad arc of artistic evolution.  His incredible sense of color captures the energy of New Orleans.

Since 1994, CVU has been assisting New Orleans neighborhoods through art, beautification and empowerment.  CVU has completed 300 utility boxes to date, but are still many boxes that need to be completed.  CVU has started creating art on the AT&T boxes (5 to date) and is also embarking on some mural projects in the near future.
