NEW ORLEANS (press release) – In celebration of National Bourbon Heritage Month (September 1 – 30, 2019), Jack Rose and Bayou Bar at the Pontchartrain Hotel in New Orleans are featuring their new Private Select barrels of Maker’s Mark, created by the Pontchartrain bar team this summer in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition, they designed a specialty craft cocktail to highlight the unique flavor profile of the exclusive bourbon and will run this cocktail as a special throughout the month of September.
After Bayou Bar and Jack Rose bartenders spent several days at the renowned distillery selecting 10 custom wood finishing staves to create a singular taste profile, the distillery aged the bourbon in a limestone cellar for 9 weeks. The finished product is Jack Rose Maker’s Select – a customized barrel of the signature bourbon.
According to Joe Tangney, head bartender at the Pontchartrain: “An absolutely stunning experience! The grounds of the distillery are as beautiful as the bourbon in the bottle. Every whiskey lover needs to take this trip. The process of using wood staves to create our own signature Maker’s Mark blend is a triumph of forward thinking in the evolution of bourbon.”
Available throughout the month of September at both Jack Rose and Bayou Bar, imbibers can enjoy glasses and bottles from the Private Select barrel, as well as the specialty cocktail Margie’s Mark. Named in honor of Margie Samuels, co-founder of Maker’s Mark and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Famer, the drink is priced at $14 and features Jack Rose Maker’s Select, sweet vermouth, benedictine, and bitters.
Jack Rose and Bayou Bar are located at the Pontchartrain Hotel, 2031 St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District.
