Celebrating Essence: Fireside Chat w/ Bruce Jackson about his Best-Selling Book

NEW ORLEANS (press release) –

Join Transcendent Law Group and Ogletree Deakins during Essence Festival Week for ‘A Fireside Chat’ with Bruce Jackson, Assistant General Counsel of Microsoft, and Best-Selling Author of the book “Never Far from Home: My Journey from Brooklyn to Hip Hop, Microsoft, and the Law.”

In his powerful new book, Bruce recounts his incredible journey to becoming an executive at Microsoft after being falsely accused of robbery at age 10, witnessing the murder of a friend at age 15, spending a night in jail for the “crime” of driving his own car as an adult, and otherwise learning to navigate the journey that brought him to this point.

Prior to joining Microsoft in 2000 as corporate counsel for the Digital Media Division, Jackson founded the entertainment law firm of Jackson, Brown, Powell, and St. George, representing the likes of Heavy D, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, L.L. Cool J, and Busta Rhymes. Hear more of Bruce’s story here.

At a time when diversity and inclusion initiatives are under attack, Jackson continues to fight for inclusive workspaces. He has recently received Microsoft’s Diversity Award, participated in Microsoft’s Law and Corporate Affairs’ diversity efforts, helped launch Microsoft’s Elevate American Veterans Initiative, and worked to develop its diverse recruitment pipeline. He is a current board member of the National Association for Women and Minority Owned Law Firms, and the Universal Hip Hop Museum. “Never Far

from Home” is his first book.

Attendees will have the opportunity to not only hear more about this story, but they will also meet the amazing Bruce Jackson and have a chance to win tickets to Essence Fest and other exclusive events throughout the week and weekend.

The ‘Fireside Chat’ and book signing will be at the world famous and ‘Oprah endorsed’ Baldwin & Co. Bookstore located at 504 Elysian Fields Ave. (View Map) at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28. The author will be available to sign copies of his book immediately thereafter.
