On Sunday, June 22, the Windsor Court welcomed some of our area’s best and brightest minds at the Eighth Annual “Celebrating Our Scientists” dinner, hosted by the Louisiana State University Health Science Center’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence. The evening was the best-attended dinner the event had ever seen, with co-chairs Dottie and John Charbonnet offering opening remarks to the extraordinary guests in attendance. Sandy J. Villere, part of the 2008 Annual Dinner Host Committee, presented an endowed fellowship to the LSU Neuroscience Center provided by the Ear, Nose and Throat Foundation. Later in the evening the Center’s Director and Boyd Professor Dr. Nicolas G. Bazan gave beautiful bouquets provided by Perfect Presentations to fellow scientist and wife Dr. Haydee, along with many other members of the Dinner Committee, including Margie Villere, Betsy Nalty and Diana Hollier. The LSU Health Sciences Center’s leaders were in attendance as well, including the president of LSU Health System, John V. Lombardi; the chancellor of LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Larry H. Hollier; and the dean of LSU Medicine, Dr. Steve Nelson. Guests donned business attire for the event and enjoyed a dinner of sea bass and grilled beef tenderloin, followed by a decadent dessert of chocolate mousse.
