Bridge House/Grace House fêtes 16 years of the “Cochon Cotillion.”
The “Cochon Cotillion XVI” was held on Saturday, April 14, at Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World. The event celebrated The Krewe of Pork and Beads with their majesties King Bryan Batt and Queen Barbara Gaiennie.
The cotillion, the “first Mardi Gras Ball of the 2013 season,” featured cuisine from many of New Orleans’ finest restaurants, a complimentary bar, a silent auction, a raffle and music by Mike Morris and the Grammy award-winning Rebirth Brass Band as well as dancing. Costume or tacky attire was requested for the fête. WGNO and NOLA 38 sponsored the event.
Decorations included everything from Mardi Gras-colored balloons and tablecloths to Marilyn Monroe, a camel and statues of Yoda. The event, benefiting Bridge House/Grace House, strives to assist the charity that provides gender specific treatment to men and women who have become dependent on alcohol and/or drugs so that they may lead a productively sober lifestyle. Bridge House/Grace House also provides long-term residential services regardless of financial status.
