NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Chemin à la Mer will host a special wine dinner on Wed., Nov. 2, featuring wines from the PlumpJack Collection of Wineries in Napa. Each of the five courses on the special menu is paired with a wine from the PlumpJack Collection.
“This will be a lively, engaging event with Hilary Newsom, President of PlumpJack Winery,'” said Emily Kitzmiller, Chemin à la Mer Sommelier. “Guests will be seated together at communal tables, inviting open discussions about the wines and an opportunity to meet others who share an appreciation for terroir-driven craft wines.”
The wine dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 pm, and is $250 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are limited.
The five-course menu starts with scallop crudo with fennel, preserved lemon, and basil and is paired with a cocktail made from Träkál, a bold, new spirit with distinct sweet and herbaceous flavors crafted in Patagonia. The second course is charbroiled Murder Point oysters, spinach, bechamel, and bacon served with 2020 PlumpJack Reserve Chardonnay. Guinea hen sausage with spoon bread, roasted mushrooms, and whole grain mustard jus is served third with 2019 PlumpJack Merlot. The main course of braised lamb shoulder with grits, Gordal olives, and an herb salad is paired with a 2018 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet and a 2019 PlumpJack Syrah. The final dish of Basque cheesecake with roasted grapes and mulled wine is complemented by a 2018 Adaptation Petite Sirah.
