COVINGTON, La (press release) – The Greenwood, a Southern Hotel property, announced it is hosting a Christmas Candlelight Jazz Supper on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 6 p.m. Enjoy Chef Alex Harrell’s holiday pre-fixe menu, perfectly paired with wines, while enjoying the smooth sounds of jazz performed by Ben Redwine.
Chef Alex’s three-course pre-fixe menu begins with a poached pear salad with blue cheese mousse, arugula and spiced pecans. For the second course, guests can choose between duck confit served with braised lentils and smoked blackberry sauce or gulf fish accompanied by butternut squash puree, citrus and Brussels sprouts. The Greenwood, the newest property of The Southern Hotel, is spread across nine acres of the historic St. Gertrude Convent, dating back to the 1800s. The Gloriette, the hotel’s restaurant, serves breakfast daily from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with extended hours on Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Cypress Bar is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight.
