It’s the last week to experience Christmastime in Acadiana, and there are still tons of events in the area to help you make the most of the most wonderful time of the year. Some events are family friendly, and some are definitely for adults only. Either way, if you’re interested in catching a show, singing along to one, taking pictures with Santa, or perusing a village full of Christmas lights, this list has you covered.
12/21: Holiday Sing-a-Long, CENTRAL Pizza + Bar: Downtown’s favorite pizza joint will host a late night sing-a-long this Friday from 10 p.m.- 1 a.m! Local singer and pianist Julie Williams will lead the sing-a-long. Choose a Christmas-y drink from a surprise cozy cocktails menu exclusive to the event, and order pizza-by-the-slice. Ugly (I prefer the term “festive”) Christmas sweaters are not required but encouraged.
12/21: LillyBrave Album Release Party with Maintenance, Artmosphere: Although this isn’t Christmas-specific, the holidays are about coming together. Everyone has more time off, and everyone who moved away is in town. This Friday at Artmosphere, my favorite local band, LillyBrave, will perform new songs from its new album, “Find Love.” If you haven’t seen them yet, you deserve to treat yourself. Giorgio Russo is a fantastic songwriter, and the band puts on quite a show. It’s an ideal setting to meet up with friends and grab a drink before family holiday obligations set in.
12/22: Cirque Musica: Wonderland, Broadway in Lafayette: This show offers a little bit of everything: live music, acrobats, aerialists, and more! A symphony orchestra will perform classic holiday music while daring acts keep you on the edge of your seat. There’s something for everyone in Wonderland. Tickets are available at lafayettebroadway.com.
Noel Acadien Au Village 2018: As Christmas draws near, so does the shutting down of Acadien Village’s lit up Christmas display. Every year, from around Thanksgiving to Christmas, the village of old Acadien homes is aglow with Christmas lights. Hot chocolate and other treats are served, and local blacksmiths and welders will craft before your eyes and other local makers will have wintery wares for sale.
12/23: Jolly St. Nick’s Holiday Prance, Elevation Station, Broussard: Broussard’s trampoline park, Elevation Station, will host Santa himself this Sunday morning from 8-11 a.m. Each $15 ticket for children nine and under ensures three hours of jumping and a free picture with Santa, as well as a toy! Attendees can also look forward to gift card deals and birthday party discounts. Tickets can be purchased by calling (337)-552-8222. Only 165 tickets re available, so act fast!
12/23: Donuts with Santa, Cajun Market Donut Co., Breaux Bridge: If you can’t make it to Broussard Sunday morning to see Santa, he will also be at Cajun Market Donut Co. Sunday morning! No purchase or ticket is necessary to meet Santa. Just bring your child in his or her favorite pajamas or Christmas outfits and a camera. What’s better than a donut breakfast? Donuts with Santa first.
