City Park Kicks Off Star-Spangled Summer

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – City Park is celebrating Independence Day with a BANG!

Happy 3rd of July, one of the region’s hottest events, returns to the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn on Monday, July 3. The festivities begin at 7:15pm with the national anthem sung by local artist Robin Barnes, followed by a patriotic program featuring the Marine Forces Reserve Band. The evening culminates with fabulous fireworks atop the Peristyle at 9pm.

“One of the highlights of the summer, Happy 3rd of July is a great opportunity for the community to congregate and celebrate,” said City Park Conservancy President and CEO Cara Lambright. “City Park is proud to host this annual event, and even prouder that visitors from all over the region choose to spend their holiday at our greenspace.”

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, and arrive early, to enjoy this free community event. Hamburgers, hot dogs, beer, daiquiris, water and wine will be available on site for purchase. Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and Storyland will be open, and accessible, from 3-9pm.

Friends of City Park Members enjoy exclusive access to City Putt restrooms for the number of individuals in membership level – proof of active membership required.

New this year, City Park Conservancy will offer sponsorship opportunities for groups and organizations.
