City Park Springs to Life this Weekend with Signature Events

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – City Park Conservancy (CPC) has a full lineup of family friendly events this weekend, perfect for families wanting to get a head start on Easter and those who enjoy fishing in the Park.

On Saturday, March 28, CPC and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries invite anglers to the 77th annual Big Bass Fishing Rodeo in the Park’s lagoons and on Bayou St. John.

The competition starts at 6:30 a.m. Students in grades 7-12 who wish to represent their schools can team up in the Battle for the Bass competition and kayakers can compete in the Boats on the Bayou event on Bayou St. John for non-motorized watercraft in this catch-and-release tournament. For families, there is also a free Fishtival beginning at 9 a.m., featuring music, exhibits as well as educational and hands-on activities for kids. Chips, cookies, jambalaya, soft drinks and water will be available for purchase.
