NEW ORLEANS – City Park Conservancy (CPC) is inviting the community to come and see the refurbished Sun Garden this week. On Wednesday, Sept. 2 – from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – guests can visit the Sun Garden during the New Orleans Botanical Garden’s weekly free admission for Louisiana residents, courtesy of The Helis Foundation.
The morning in the Sun Garden offers visitors the opportunity to explore the transformed garden, learn more about water-conscious gardening and take home a complimentary succulent while supplies last. Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls will be on site featuring City Park’s limited-edition Bloom Ball with additional sno-balls available for purchase.
The Sun Garden showcases hundreds of cacti, succulents, yuccas, agaves and heat-tolerant herbaceous plants that thrive in hot, sunny conditions. Work by the Botanical Garden’s horticulture team began in May with the removal of much of the existing garden materials to prepare the Sun Garden to house these large agaves and cacti.
