In June, a few staff members of Renaissance Publishing had the opportunity to try the newest business venture in the drink world, New Orleans Drink Lab – which I wrote about for the August issue of New Orleans Magazine.
Drink Lab is a new foray into the spirits world by master bartender, entrepreneur and cocktail aficionado Daniel Victory, of Victory bar and restaurant, and his partner Camille Whitworth. Located above Victory in the CBD, Drink Lab is an interactive bar and venue with tons of options for a bride and groom.
At its core, Drink Lab is a school for the people of New Orleans, and beyond, to come and learn the art of the cocktail. Victory takes the practice very seriously and wants to share not only the technique, but also the history behind each cocktail with all of his guests. The company offers four interactive drink classes Wednesday through Saturday. The options include Classic New Orleans Cocktails (what we experienced for New Orleans Magazine), The Makings of Mixology, Wine Enthusiast Tasting and Bourbon & Whiskey Tasting.
Because each class is designed with each particular group in mind, it’s a great idea for an alternative bachelor or bachelorette party or for you or your future husband or wife to gain some skills, while searching for that signature cocktail or wine feature at your wedding. The wine enthusiast tasting could also lend a hand to the outing in which you ask your bridal party to be a part of your big day.
The area is already designed with a stage and the ability to accommodate roughly 80 guests. This opens the options up to bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and everything between.
Both Victory and Whitworth are willing to accommodate your wedding festivities needs for the sake of the cocktail.
More details and class signups can be found at Drink Lab’s website here.
