For the next few days thousands of people will converge on New Orleans for the festival some refer to as the party with a purpose. Essence Festival is celebrating 25 years and pulling out all the stops with its unbeatable talent, music and fun. So where can you go to grab a great cocktail while taking in all the sights and sounds? Many places are creating great happy hours. Here are just a few.

Arnaud’s French 75 Bar (813 Bienville St.) is a longstanding iconic spot with plenty to offer. Happy hour at the French 75 Bar is only on Fridays from 3 – 5:30 p.m. You can enjoy half off the Old Fashioned, select wine and different spritzers.

Johnny Sanchez (930 Poydras St.) has happy hour from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. During this time, you can enjoy half off some signature margaritas, draft beer and select wine. And, if you need a reason to celebrate the middle of the week, every Wednesday, bartenders offer $2 margarita’s on the rocks. No need to rush, the hump day special runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This is perfect when going to and from the dome, remember you can always order it to go.
