Color Inspiration: Magenta

One of our favorite looks from the Fall 2017 Bridal Fashion Week was a bright pink ombre gown from Christian Siriano. It takes a bold bride to rock this look on her wedding day, but what’s most important when sporting a dress or a color like this for your “I Do’s” is making sure everything around you complements it and one another. It’s one thing to have a jaw-dropping colored frock, but something else entirely to have it clash with the bridesmaids or centerpieces at the reception.

It can be easy to take the safe route and pick neutral, pale colors such as gray or a soft, dusty lavender, but don’t shy away from the brighter colors that can really add an extra pop.

For springtime, think of matching the hue with colors such as teal and peach. Teal adds a nice balance from the other side of the color wheel to the bright magenta, while peach gives the hue a little backup.

Following spring, kick it up a notch during the summer months. Summer colors let go of a few rules and bring a fun, lighthearted vibe to any outing. Add in tangerine and canary yellow pillows for seating or vases on the table, while dining from antique white dinnerware and aqua napkins.

When it comes to fall and winter, many may think the hue is too bright, but pairing it with darker toned down colors makes for a rich, romantic vibe. Match the magenta with a darker maroon and marsala shades or even some dark blue linens.
