Color Report

As we start this “winter” day expecting the temperature to hit 70 degrees, it drives home the point that New Orleans’ weather isn’t flawless. With colder weather lasting generally about three days, it’s easy for natives to start thinking about spring.

In addition to its color of the year, the Pantone Institute produces seasonal color reports that help shape fashion and trends around the world. And its 2017 spring color lineup definitely does not disappoint.

Pantone really kept with light and vivid colors when it came to the 10 hues that made the list, matching perfectly with shades found in nature.

Color Report

In a statement on the Pantone website, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman said:

One of the things that we saw this year, was a renewed sense of imagination in which color was appearing in context that was different than the traditional. Reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature, our Spring 2017 Fashion Color Report evokes a spectrum of emotion and feeling. From the warmth of sunny days with Pantone 13-0755 Primrose Yellow to the invigorating feeling of breathing fresh mountain air with Pantone 18-0107 Kale and the desire to escape to pristine waters with Pantone 14-4620 Island Paradise, designers applied color in playful, yet thoughtful and precise combinations to fully capture the promises, hope and transformation that we yearn for each spring.

The lineup is a fabulous jumping off point for a couple looking to spice up their spring wedding. The Lapis Blue mixed with the 2017 color of the year Greenery mix well for a romantic outdoor forest reception under tall, stately trees and twinkling lights. Mix up the moment with a vibrant combination of Flame, Pink Yarrow and Primrose Yellow. That burst of color matches perfectly with a resort or country club theme.
