NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Eleven-time Wine Spectator Grand Award Winner Commander’s Palace announces the lineup for its second annual “CP Sips” wine tasting series, which brings together local wine professionals to lead an exploration of premier wine brands from around the world. Inspired by the seasons, the series kicks off with three “Sips of Summer” events featuring crisp, summer sippers ideal for warmer weather (June 28, July 26, and August 30).
Following the success of last year’s inaugural run, Commander’s Palace “Wine Guy” (and James Beard nominee) Dan Davis, along with neighborhood wine destination Swirl Wine Bar & Market and seven local distributors, will present a thoughtful and educational look into a curated selection of over 40 wines to taste. The sips will be paired with gourmet cheeses, seafood, and other bites from Executive Chef Meg Bickford and the restaurant’s culinary team.
Representatives from the Swirl Wine Bar team will be onsite to facilitate delivery orders of any wines included in the tasting. Each event will also feature a Commander’s cocktail mixer station highlighting spirits from local distiller Porchjam Distillery.
The restaurant, celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, is renowned for its thoughtfully curated wine program with an inventory of over 20,000 bottles and 2,400 selections–all helmed by Davis, who brings his wealth of knowledge to each CP Sips event. In celebration of the grand anniversary, Davis recently introduced his Wines of a Certain Age program, offering a regularly rotating list of over 40 wines by the glass (and half glass), which provides a unique opportunity to taste exceptional and rare wines from award-winning winemakers around the globe without the commitment (or cost) of a full bottle.
WHEN:
The CP Sips series will occur monthly from June to August with a special holiday edition in December. Each event will take place on a Wednesday from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
- June 28: Red, White and…Rosé – summer sippers from the restaurant team’s favorite wine regions, and in time for 4th of July picnics!
- July 26: California Dreaming – dreamy selections from the sunshine state
- August 30: Coast to Coast – highlighting wines from across the Mediterranean
