NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Commander’s Palace is excited to welcome the New Orleans community for the third iteration of Chef Meg & Company: A Commander’s Palace Dinner Series, debuting on Tuesday, July 11. Since 2021, the series has brought esteemed chefs from across New Orleans to the Commander’s kitchen for collaborative dinner parties in celebration of the city’s beloved cuisine.
This year, Executive Chef Meg Bickford will combine forces with three distinguished New Orleans female culinary leaders – James Beard award winning chef Sue Zemanick of Zasu; executive chef at Copper Vine Amy Mehrtens; and James Beard award semifinalist Martha Wiggins, executive chef of Cafe Reconcile – all of whom are respected alumni and friends of the Commander’s family. The convivial dinner parties will feature cocktails from Commander’s Palace’s own Team Cocktail, who will be preparing delicious libations with the help of Café Reconcile at each event.
The series launched in 2021 as a way to bring people back together to celebrate the camaraderie of the industry following the pandemic. In 2023, as Commander’s Palace celebrates its 130th anniversary, the series continues with that same goal – to connect with dear friends over creative cuisine and flowing drinks, creating the perfect recipe for a memorable evening. Each dinner will raise funds for Commander Palace’s community partner, Café Reconcile, a nonprofit daytime restaurant helmed by collaborating chef Martha Wiggins which serves Southern staples cooked by at-risk youth receiving important on-the-job training.
The ticketed dinners include a welcome cocktail, a coupe de milieu cocktail, and a collaborative five-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Created together between Chef Meg and each guest chef, the menus will highlight the best of New Orleans’ diverse cuisine with an emphasis on local and seasonally-inspired ingredients. Each course will feature wine pairings from Commander’s Palace’s own “Wine Guy” (and James Beard nominee) Dan Davis, who helms the restaurant’s ten-time Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning wine program. Davis will be in attendance to offer insights into the wine selections, which will come from Commander’s Palace’s curated inventory of over 20,000 bottles.
