NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Commander’s Palace announces the opening of Le Petit Bleu, a crêperie, café and marché inspired by the renowned crêperies of Paris. Located next door to the acclaimed restaurant on Washington St., Le Petit Bleu will offer both its own signature dishes and Commander’s Palace favorites, as well as drinks and gifts to go.
Inspired by co-proprietors Ti Adelaide Martin and Lally Brennan’s travels to Paris with Miss Ella Brennan – the trailblazing restaurateur and “grande dame” of the Commander’s Family of Restaurants – and brought to life through an inventive menu from Commander’s Palace Executive Chef Meg Bickford, Le Petit Bleu brings a Parisian feel to the Garden District with Chef Meg’s signature New Haute Creole twist. Inside, guests will be welcomed with delicious breakfast, lunch and early dinner options, in addition to a full coffee bar, cocktails and wine. Select items can also be ordered in advance for pick-up or delivery.
“It’s our little jewel box of a crêperie, with bold marble countertops and blue and white patterned tile floors,” says Lally Brennan, co-proprietor of Commander’s Palace. “Grab a yellow cafe chair or banquette seat for a cappuccino and some Commander’s Candied Pecan Biscotti for breakfast. We hope you’ll stop in for a crêpe or frozen drink, a salad to go, a dog biscuit for Bowser or just to say ‘Bonjour!’”
Literally translated as “The Little Blue,” the new café was modeled after traditional Parisian crêperies, while paying homage to Commander’s Palace’s iconic style. Anurag Nema of Nema Workshop—who also designed Commander’s Palace’s recently renovated Patio Room—led the design of Le Petit Bleu.
“The crêperies and cafés in Paris, with their shiny lacquered doors and writing on the windows. And the treasures within! That’s what inspired us,” adds Ti Adelaide Martin, co-proprietor of Commander’s Palace. “The very, very good coffee and oh, those crêpes! We dreamt of doing our version of them—a New Orleans version right in the Garden District. So here she is, Le Petit Bleu.”
Le Petit Bleu is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and is located at 1427 Washington Ave. in New Orleans’ Garden District.
