A record number of individual and corporate donors contributed to the Family Service of Greater New Orleans’ 39th annual “Ten Outstanding Persons Gala” to make the event their most successful yet. The $105,000 in proceeds will go toward providing counseling and support services to children, adolescents and families in the region.
The Wednesday, October 17, event honored 10 of the city’s most influential contributors to local nonprofit causes as recipients of the Open Door Award. Upon entrance to the party, honorees received a large gold key to wear around their neck, and at the awards ceremony WWL-TV Health Reporter Meg Farris presented each recipient with a crystal obelisk.
The 10 honorees included: Carol Asher, Susan Brennan, Joan Coulter, Clancy DuBos, Entergy Corporation, Hardy Fowler, Timothy Francis, Cynthia Molyneux, Anne Redd and Charles Young.
Entergy was recognized for its support of Second Harvest Food Bank, Teach for America and bike lane/pedestrian walkways expansions in New Orleans. “They requested that we not recognize one person within the organization, but the entire organization,” said Shelley Cascio of FSGNO Special Events and Public Relations.
The elegant ceremony was complemented by beautiful vases of small white roses adorning each table and delicious fare prepared by City Park Catering. For dessert, guests enjoyed a decadent white chocolate bread pudding to top off the successful night.
