Community Crusader | Jen Hale

Jennifer Hale, Host and Sideline Reporter for Fox Sports and Fox Sports 1: covering the NFL, NBA and Westminster Dog Show, is an award-winning journalist who is dedicated to the Southern Louisiana commercial. She has worked for Fox Sports for nine years now, covering the NFL and NBA as a sideline reporter and as a host. She also fills in for Fox Sports 1’s studio shows in Los Angeles on the national anchor desk.

Aside from her passion for journalism, Hale is also passionate about health and fitness. As a teen, she lost her father to dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition that compromises the heart’s ability to function; as an adult, she herself was diagnosed with the condition. She was told her heart was functioning at 16 percent, and that she had two options: a heart transplant or five years to live.

Through intense medical care, perseverance and medication, she beat her cardiomyopathy on her own terms and now travels the country giving talks about her experience and her relationship with health and fitness today. She continues that focus on health through her positions as a health spokesperson for Thibodaux Regional Medical Center and as an ambassador for Chronos Body, Health and Wellness.

Hale carried the lessons she learned from her battle with cardiomyopathy into the nonprofit she founded in 2015—Sideline Pass. The organization, which is dedicated to educating and empowering undereducated young women, reinforces the truth that “girl power” isn’t just a phrase—it’s an affirmation for young women who have developed their own grace, strength, benevolence and intelligence.
