NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Convention Center Boulevard, from Julia Street to lake-bound Calliope Street will be closed to vehicular traffic, Monday, Dec. 2 to Tuesday, Dec. 31, to accommodate Entergy’s installation of three (3) new power poles.
Motorists are encouraged to take other routes into and out of the Central Business District during this period. Pedestrian access to the building will be limited; look for directional signage upon arrival.
Conditions will continue to change as cross streets are closed to make the improvements and then reopened. Motorists are advised to remain aware of the directional signs and consider alternate routes.
A portion of the new roadway, from Poydras Street to Julia Street, has opened. The entire roadway, from Poydras Street to Henderson Street, will open January 1.
The construction is part of a $75 million safety and beautification plan to convert parts of Convention Center Boulevard into a 7.5 acre landscaped Public Park to be completed in the fall of 2020.
