Cooking Up Dreams

The 30th annual “Chefs’ Charity for Children,” a benefit for St. Michael’s Special School on Feb. 13, was sold out. And it’s no wonder—participating chefs included John Besh, Frank Brigtsen, Leah Chase, John Folse, Goffredo Fraccaro, Emeril Lagasse, Gunter Preuss, the Wong Brothers (James, Joe, Tommy, Frank and John), David Woodward, Andrea Apuzzo and Greg Sonnier, all of whom generously donated their time and culinary skills for the fundraiser. Held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel, the event featured cooking demonstrations by these all-star chefs, followed by an amazing buffet lunch for 1,500 partygoers. In addition to the food, guests received a 2007 Chefs’ Charity cookbook.

The event raised more than $90,000, which benefits St. Michael’s,
a school that serves students and young adults who have major learning disabilities.
