In New Orleans, if it’s hot, wear white, and if it’s white it’s right. Five teenage girls gathered on Friday night to mix pieces from area stores and put together their own interpretations of spring and summer whites. The results on these pages are stylishly original and totally New Orleans. Joining the girls was 21-year-old Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, who started his musical career at age three, graduated from New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and recently completed a two-year tour with Lenny Kravitz.

Pitot House

Located on historic Bayou St. John, the Pitot House is the only Creole colonial style house museum in New Orleans. The house is stucco-covered, brick-between-post construction and has a double-pitched hipped roof. The interiors are furnished with Louisiana and American antiques from the early 1800s, in keeping with the style and period of James Pitot, the first American mayor of New Orleans who lived at the house 1810 to 1819.

Guided tours are given Wed. to Sat., 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 482-0312.
