Copeland’s of New Orleans Celebrates 40th Year with Throwback Menu

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Copeland’s of New Orleans will continue its 40th-year celebration with “9 Days of Al Copeland Celebration.” Beginning on June 28 – Al Copeland Day, which is recognized by the state of Louisiana – and ending on July 6, National Fried Chicken Day, Copeland’s Restaurants will offer four dishes from the original 1983 menu. “We are so excited to be celebrating 40 years in business and carrying on the culinary traditions that my father started back in 1983,” said Al Copeland, Jr. “During our 9 Days of Al Copeland celebration, we are also fundraising for the Al Copeland Foundation, which is aimed at saving lives and ending cancer, my father’s final wish, where we found a cure to the cancer that took his life.”

The four 1983 dishes featured on the “9 Days” menu are the Fettuccine Lamborghini with pan seared tasso, alfredo sauce, parmesan cheese, and parsley; Shrimp Dill-icious with seared Gulf shrimp, fettuccine pasta, Lacombe sauce, parmesan cheese, fresh dill, and seared lemon; Redfish with Crawfish Lacombe Sauce and served with red hot potatoes; and Paw Paw’s Potato, a baked potato with mozzarella cheese, spicy tasso, shrimp cream sauce, parmesan cheese and green onions.

In addition to the throw-back menu items, guests can support the Al Copeland Foundation in two ways: by adding $4 at the bottom of the guest check and receiving 40 Lagniappe Points in return – the Lagniappe program is Copeland’s free loyalty program where guests can earn points and rewards (typically one point for every dollar spent).  Also, guests can support by purchasing Secrets of a Tastemaker: Al Copeland The Cookbook, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Al Copeland Foundation. The cookbook may be purchased in-store or online. The fundraising campaign aims to bring awareness to the mission of the Al Copeland Foundation while raising funds to save lives and end cancer.
