Copeland’s of New Orleans Celebrates National Fried Chicken Day

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Copeland’s of New Orleans will kick off a nine-day fundraising campaign for the Al Copeland Foundation on Al Copeland Day, June 28, and culminate on National Fried Chicken Day, July 6. The fundraising campaign aims to bring awareness to the mission of the Al Copeland Foundation while raising funds to save lives and end cancer. Each Copeland’s of New Orleans restaurant will highlight several dishes in celebration, including Crash & Burns—a signature drink since the restaurant’s opening in 1983—Mardi Gras King Cake Cheesecake, and of course, Copeland’s famous fried chicken. The Copeland Family will match every donation made to the Al Copeland Foundation during the campaign.

“Each year we celebrate the life on my father, Al. Sr., with joy and anticipation as we raise funds to reach his final wish to save lives and end cancer,” said Al Copeland, Jr. “This year we thought it would be fun to bring a little Mardi Gras nostalgia to the party since we couldn’t celebrate in the spring. We invite everyone to come in and celebrate like its Fat Tuesday!”

The Al Copeland Foundation supports new local cancer research, education and patient programs at the Copeland-LSU Health Science Center Partnership in Viruses, Cancer and Immunotherapy. Founded in 2008 in honor of Al Copeland, Sr. who died of Merkel Cell Carcinoma. Copeland’s final wish was to find a cure for the cancer that ultimately took his life. Proudly, the Al Copeland Foundation has raised more than $1.9 million and opened 17 immunotherapy trials, resulting in three completely Merkel Cell Carcinoma free patients, to date. The Al Copeland Foundation believes we are on a path to fulfill that wish— to save lives and end cancer.
