Corona, Corona, Cocktail
With all the talk these days surrounding the dreaded coronavirus, we wanted to keep things a little lighter, take you to places that will offer great drinks and great specials. It’s hard to not think of the frenzy surrounding the illness that has impacted our area, forced meetings and conventions to cancel and hurt businesses because people are afraid to show up. So, lets enjoy what we do best in the Big Easy, that’s imbibing.
The Country Club (634 Louisa St.) is hosting a Tanqueray Cocktail party on Tuesday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m. This will be an eventing of crafted cocktails featuring the wonderful and subtle variations of the Tanqueray portfolio. When you arrive, it will look and feel like a traditional cocktail party, organizers say. But keep in mind there will be limited seating and guests will be encouraged to mingle and chat with each other. If its tequila you love, grab your tickets fast because they are limiting this events to 30 tickets at $49.37 per person. There will be four courses served – each paired a a Tanqueray cocktail.
Ralph’s on the Park (900 City Park Ave.) is drinking with a purpose in mind, as they host their Cocktail for a Cause mixer Tuesday, March 24, at 5 p.m. The team here is celebrating the entire month of March by offering 20 percent of sales directly to the fundraising efforts of Mid-City Neighborhood Organization. One cocktail being highlighted is the “Cobbler” made with Ruby Port, Chambord, fresh lime and mint. It sounds refreshing and delicious and it’s more inviting knowing it’s all for a good cause.
Callahan’s (2320 Belle Chasse Highway) is your spot if you’re crossing the river and looking for a fun event, as they host the National Cocktail Day event in Gretna. The team is celebrating all types of cocktails and they also encourage you to create your own. There will be a list available with special drink prices and some yummy snacks, too. Callahan’s event also takes place Tuesday, March 24, from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Claret Wine & Cocktail Bar (1320 Magazine St.) on March 19 from 6-8 p.m. the bartenders are hosting a wine tasting social that will support the Run, Walk, Give committee of the Junior League of New Orleans. At this event you can ‘wine’ down and meet the team. Claret will pour more than 20 wines for you to taste. Bottles will be available for purchase and a portion of all ticket and bottle sales will go to JLNO.
