Crawdads abounded at the Odyssey House’s Crawfish Odyssey 2010 event on April 17.
Guests arrived at the event, held at Michaul’s Live Cajun Music Restaurant, at 7 p.m. to enjoy dishes made with Louisiana’s favorite crustacean. Patrons donated $100 to the benefit, while other guests donated $40. Guests enjoyed a live Cajun band and participated in a silent auction.
During the event, area restaurants competed for the title of “King of Crawfish.” It was Restaurant Rambla who went home with the royal title for the second year in a row, after making its crawfish fritters. Odyssey House’s own Second Helping Catering came in second place with its crawfish cakes, and Li’l Dizzy’s Café came in third with its spicy crawfish bisque. In addition, Second Helping Catering was also awarded the People’s Choice “Who Loves Ya, Baby!” award.
Proceeds from the event benefit Odyssey House’s Pregnant and Post-Partum Women and Children Program. Fund Development Director Kathleen Gross served as event chair.
