Crazy Times Call For Crazy Cocktails
Many of us are swirling from the whirlwind of hurricanes, the pandemic, elections and so much more these days. And recently, some of you have been asking us for cocktails to match our ever changing moods. So, we are stepping up to the plate to give you some fun and (a little) crazy cocktails that you can make at home or with friends.
One thing that is always fun is the Beer Float. It’s simple and delicious. The key to a Beer Float is to pick a beer that is on the malty, sweet side and try to avoid hoppy, bitter beers. All you have to do is pair your favorite beer with vanilla ice cream and garnish it with your favorite fruit, like a raspberry for example. Don’t like fruit as a garnish? No problem, just sprinkle with a dusting of cocoa powder. This drink will likely take less than 5 minutes to make and it will leave a lasting impression.
If you’re looking for a cocktail that is good at any time in the day, we give you The Peach Prosecco Smash.
All you need is peach slices, lemon juice, simple syrup, thyme sprigs for garnish and one bottle of Prosecco (or your favorite bubbly). First, muddle the peaches with the simple syrup and lemon juice, then shake with ice in a cocktail shaker and pour over crushed ice. Top it all off with the bubbly and garnish with left over peaches and thyme sprigs. It’s a cocktail that can be served at any time of day and would be ideal for a COVID-safe cocktail party.
If you want your cocktail to pop, just add a Tequila Pop. You’ll need your favorite tequila, grand mariner, sweet and sour mix, cranberry and lime juices and pop rocks candy. You just mix all ingredients into a shaker tin and pour it over ice. Before creating the cocktail, prepare your glass by dipping the rim in simple syrup and use the pop rocks to cover the rim of the glass. This will make the drink sound like a fireworks show. Boom!
These are just a few ideas to keep you sane during these seemingly uncertain times. After all, we need something, like a stiff drink, to avoid driving ourselves crazy. Cheers!
