There was a time in the not-so-distant past when bracelet stacks stood firmly in their lane. Gold was the standard metal base used, and that was that. Occasionally, a chic silver stack would emerge, but never did the two metals mingle. But recently, mixing metals has become de riguer once again. All summer, I’ve seen indulgently long stacks (7-8 bracelets deep) of both gold and silver on the arms of very fashionable women. What’s refreshing about this trend is the ease in combining fine and costume jewelry, diamonds and gemstones, all in one stack. The results are unique, artful arms stacked with lots of personality. Here are a few tips to start your next stack:
Do:
- Include personal elements like family heirlooms or a piece with your children’s initials
- Mix fine and costume jewelry
- Add a pop of color (like this)
- Use tighter bracelets between loose bracelets (like this flexible one)
Don’t:
- Keep all bracelets the same width, the eye will want to mix it up
- Cover more than a 1/3 of your forearm
- Use rose gold
