NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic and Ochsner Health are teaming up again to bring back the Me Time Challenge and create a new Mother’s Day tradition. The virtual challenge aims to help women prioritize self-care and wellness with health focused tips and special access to wellness and nutrition offers from Ochsner Health. The challenge is open to everyone from fitness beginners to workout experts, and participants will have the option of walking, jogging, running, cycling, swimming or any physical activity they choose to accumulate their miles.
All registrants receive a virtual bib, commemorative Me Time Challenge tank top or t-shirt (participant’s choice) and a finisher’s medallion. The entry cost for both the individual and team challenges is $36. A portion of challenge proceeds and all donations from participants will go directly to the Women’s Wellness and Survivorship Center at Ochsner Baptist, which provides comprehensive, coordinated care using a holistic approach to the unique healthcare needs of women, including specialized gynecologic care for cancer survivors.
“Mental and physical health are such vital issues for women in today’s world,” said Me Time Challenge Operations Director Kristen Stuart. “This year, we’re aligning Me Time Challenge with Mother’s Day to encourage women to create new Mother’s Day traditions and help people from around the globe get up, get out, get moving and get excited about improving their physical and mental health.”
There are two formats for the challenge: a 30-mile individual challenge and a 100-mile team challenge. For every five miles a participant logs, they will unlock health focused tips along with special access to wellness and nutrition offers provided by Ochsner Health to better physical and mental health. Participants will start tracking their miles via RunSignUp.com beginning Saturday, May 15. The deadline to log all individual or team miles is Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
“The Me Time Challenge is all about carving out time to focus on your overall wellbeing – both the physical and the mental – while also giving back to women in the community in need of the holistic care and support provided by the Women’s Wellness and Survivorship Center at Ochsner Baptist,” said Elizabeth Lapeyre, MD, Medical Director for the Women’s Wellness and Survivorship Center at Ochsner Baptist. “It’s important to remind women to take a step back from the busy world and tune into what their physical and mental needs are in that moment. If one is out of balance, the other is too and can impact your overall wellbeing.”
Registration for the Me Time Challenge is open now. To register, interested participants should visit www.ccc10k.com. As a special Mother’s Day discount, those who register multiple entries at one time will receive a $5 discount on each registration.
