NEW ORLEANS (press release) – New Orleans-area runners and walkers donned in holiday costumes and seasonal attire will take part in the third-annual Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk on Saturday, December 10, with pre-race festivities starting at 2:30 p.m. followed by the race at 4 p.m. The two-mile fun run/walk will conclude with a special appearance with the man himself – Santa Claus. Race officials invite families and costumed runners and walkers of all ages to participate in this year’s holiday-spirited two-mile event.
The run/walk staggered starting time is scheduled for 4 p.m. Pre- and post-race activities include free pictures with Santa, holiday kids’ zone, hot chocolate, and face painting begin at 2:30 p.m. Complimentary food and refreshments from Blue Runner, Michelob Ultra, Jimmy John’s, Elmer Candy and Gatorade will also be served. Following the race, all runners and walkers will be able to enjoy the park’s holiday walking light tour and purchase food and drinks from local food trucks.
Entry into the Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk is $30 until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, and $35 from Sunday, December 4, through race day. Registration will be available in person the day of the race. Children 3-10 and Military and service members receive a $5 discount. Children under the age of 3 do not need to pay entry or wear a race bib. Race bibs can be purchased here. Registration includes a long-sleeved official holiday-themed race shirt, a race bib and early admission to Lafreniere Park’s walking holiday tour lights display.
“The Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk is the perfect holiday family outing,” said Crescent City Classic Race Director Eric Stuart. “You get to do your workout with the race and then take in some holiday cheer with access to Lafreniere Park’s light tour all for a great value.”
The two-mile course for the Christmas in Lafreniere Park Run/Walk encompasses the park and showcases all its holiday decor. The race is a two-mile fun run and walk for people and families of all ages. The run/walk is produced by the Crescent City Classic and is part of the Crescent City Classic Race Series – with the premier race being the Crescent City Classic 10K.
