NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The Crescent City Mentoring Collaborative (CCMC) – comprised of Black-led youth mentorship nonprofits 100 Black Men of Metro New Orleans, Reaching for the Stars, The Silverback Society and Son of a Saint – will host a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in celebration of National Mentoring Day. The event will be held at the world-famous Dooky Chase Restaurant located at 2301 Orleans Ave.

National Mentoring Day provides us a valuable opportunity to reflect on the transformative power of mentorship and its positive impact on individuals and communities. National Mentoring Day is a special occasion that recognizes the positive impact of mentoring relationships, especially with young people. It’s a day to honor mentors and their contributions to personal and community growth, while also highlighting the need for financial support.

New Year, Same You

As we ring in the new year, many of us are familiar with the cycle of making resolutions, especially when it comes to health...

This event will also allow for the CCMC to share their strategic action plan to recruit, train, and retain quality mentors in the New Orleans area. The luncheon aims to raise awareness of the importance of mentoring and inspire more individuals to become mentors in the lives of young people who need guidance, support, and positive role models.

“The Crescent City Mentoring Collaborative is excited to host this National Mentoring Day Luncheon at Dooky Chase’s Restaurant, an establishment renowned for its history and cultural significance,” said Greg Rattler, Jr., CEO and executive director of the Silverback Society. “This event is a testament to the power of mentorship and the difference it makes in the lives of young people.”

During the luncheon, guests will have the opportunity to connect with mentors, community leaders and other supporters of the CCMC. By sharing experiences and insights, we hope to encourage more people to become involved in mentoring and contribute to the growth and success of our youth.
