Crisp Cocktails for a Crisp Day

The weather we love is finally here. So, lets get out and enjoy some fun and exciting happy hour specials. Bartenders all over town are pulling out the stops to make some delicious libations for us.

Martin Wine Cellar (3827 Baronne St.) is offering its Big Bad Cabs deal on Friday, Nov. 1 from 6:30-8 p.m. They say it’s the baddest tasting of the year – bad, meaning great, of course. You will taste 20 of their most impressive Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet Francs an blends. They will feature wines like: Cadmus, Ramey, Far Niente, Chateau Gloria and many more! This event promises to give you an experience of world class wines. Tickets are $40 and available here. In addition to Big Bad Cabs, on Nov. 7 join the team for their last wine dinner of the year as they welcome special guest Ken Bernard, co-founder and wine maker of Ancien Wines.

Costera (4938 Prytania St.) is a Spanish-style restaurant and bar with great food and a great happy hour, too. They offer a Spanish Sunset cocktail with a perfect blend of the classic flavors of Spain and a New Orleans flare. The happy hour is Wednesday through Monday from 4-6 p.m. and you can get half-priced glasses of wine and beer, as well as a rotating list of Spanish cocktails. They say they created this happy hour just for you! And to that we say, “Gracias.”

Flamingo A-Go-Go (869 Magazine St.) is a perfect downtown spot if it’s cool fun you seek. It’s a great place for outdoor day drinking, mid-day sipping or evening imbibing. Happy hour here runs weekdays from 4-7 p.m.  and you can choose from $2 beers, $4 wines and $5 “flocktails.” The Flamingo A-Go-Go team also offers Flamingle Fridays. Every Friday the drinks specials run from 4pm-12midnight with a DJ and some serious specials like $3 bottled beer, $4 wine and sparkling glasses and $5 Frose and specialty flocktails. In addition, experience their Boozy Brunch every Saturday and Sunday – which they warn to choose wisely between the mimosas or sparkling rosé. We suggest the “Sorry Not Sorry” drink, which has Jameson Irish whiskey, ginger beer, and lime. Delicious!!
