Culinary Date Nights

Date nights are essential for any couple. Especially when planning a wedding, that one-on-one time spent together can add just that little spark needed to take the stress of finances and table décor away for at least a night.

Recently, a few restaurants around the city announced new or continuing culinary series that could be just the perfect thing for a date night. New Orleans, food and wine? What could be better? (Kelly here: pretty much nothing, if you ask me!)

Copper Vine announced the continuation of its wine dinner series, “Between the Vines,” with a five-course pairing dinner Sept. 26 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. featuring wine selections from Anne Amie Vineyards in Oregon. In a press release about the event it states, “The dinner aims to both entertain and educate with guided tasting notes of each wine, and a sumptuous meal specially crafted to complement the Anne Amie wines.”

To purchase tickets to the event you can visit the event website here or call the restaurant directly at 504-208-5958.

Toups South announced the themes of the next four Counter Club off-menu dinner series. Guests who attend the Counter Club dine exclusively at the kitchen counter, up close and personal, over-looking all the hustle and bustle, while hearing from Chef Toups and his team. In a press release about the event, they shared the following themes:

  • Kids Table on Thursday, Sept. 19. “This kid-friendly theme is inspired by Isaac’s experience cooking for his daughters. Dishes will include sweetbread “chicken nuggets” with smoky green ketchup.”
  • Best Things I’ve Eaten While Traveling on Thursday, Oct. 17. “Dishes include soft scrambled eggs with caviar inspired by Russ and Daughters in NYC.”
  • Po’ Folks on Thursday, Nov. 21. This theme is, “inspired by the early days when Isaac and his wife Amanda were struggling. Dishes include an elevated version of lunch meat stir fry made with duck prosciutto.”
  • India on Thursday, Dec. 19. “This theme will feature inventive Indian specialties with a twist like venison vindaloo.”

Reservations for either the 6 p.m. or the 8:30 p.m. dinners can only be made by calling the restaurant directly at 504-304-2147.

And last, but not least, Bywater American Bistro, opened March 2018 by Chef Nina Compton and Levi Raines, is set to host Monica Bourgeois and Neil Gernon of Vending Machine Wines for a one-night, four-course dinner created specifically by chefs Compton and Raines.
