NEW ORLEANS (press release) – National food sport series, Culinary Fight Club (CFC), is excited to announce its upcoming NOLA event hosted by the Southern Food and Beverage Museum (SoFAB) on Monday, June 3rd, 2019. CFC events are thrilling live cooking competitions where some of the best local chefs battle to create the tastiest dish while attendees watch, vote – and get to taste the food! The theme for New Orleans is Street Food Showdown.
The New Orleans competition will include competitors from New Orleans, Boston, and Chicago, including local favorite chefs Roni Dacula, Mike Newhall, and Shaheed Claiborne. Judges for the competition are Julie Cavignac of Destination Kitchen Tourism and Travel; Byron Bradley from SoFAB’s cooking team; and Chef Will Avelar, Chef Owner of Mawi Tortillas.
“Food sport is one of the fastest growing culinary events in the nation,” says CFC founder and CEO, Jiwon McCartney. “We are thrilled to bring our events to even more cities and work with amazing local chefs who can battle it out and create delicious dishes in a competitive environment.”
This year, chefs will battle across an expanded list of 28 cities including Pensacola, Atlanta, Birmingham, New Orleans, Boston, Chicago, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles. CFC is also adding two exciting new themed competitions this year: the all-female Twisted Sisters Showdown and the invite-only CFC Black Label Series.
Each CFC event benefits Fight2Feed, a non-profit that aims to feed the hungry and reduce food waste. In addition, Sam Adams and Twisted Tea will be the exclusive beer and flavored malt beverage sponsor for 2019 CFC competitions across all markets. Sam Adams seasonal beers will be showcased at every competition for attendees to taste and the brand’s Twisted Tea will be one of the signature ingredients for all 2019 CFC Tailgate Throwdowns.
Culinary Fight Club New Orleans competition will take place on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 6PM – 9PM at the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB), 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard. Tickets are priced at $25 per person and can be purchased at Culinary Fight Club at SoFAB.
